Pirates from all over the world meet in Prague at the Pirate Parties International conference 2012

PPI Conference Prague 2012

On April 14th and 15th Prague will be the capital of Pirate Parties. Representatives from more than 20 countries will meet for the Pirate Parties International (PPI) General Aseembly 2012 in Czech Republic.

During this conference, the General Assembly – the highest body of the PPI – will decide upon the admittance of new members to the PPI, elect a new board and discuss and vote on amendments to the PPI statutes. In addition there will be an open space and a parallel session for discussions about the forming of a Pirate Party Europe/EU.

Ivan Bartos, Chairman of the organizing Czech Pirate Party, says: “This is one of the most important Pirates meetings in a year. We are proud that we can host it in Prague. Pirates from all over the world will be able to address the challenges of the twenty-first century for which other political parties only living in the analog world look for answers in vain.”

The highlight of the conference will be the speeches by

  • Amelia Andersdotter (Pirate Party Sweden Member of European Parliament),
  • Laurence Vandewalle (Political advisor at European Parliament for the Greens/EFA group),
  • Cory Doctorow (Writer, blogger, journalist, co-editor of Boing Boing and well known anti-copying-monopoly fighter),
  • Fabio Reinhardt (Pirate Party Member of Berlin Parliament),
  • Rick Falkvinge (founder of the first Pirate Party in Sweden).

“The Pirate movement is spreading rapidly – there are currently Pirate Parties in nearly 50 countries all over the world. Pirate Parties are more than national political actors, we are a global political and social movement!” says Lola Voronina, Chief Administrative Officer of PPI. “The PPI conference 2012 is the perfect opportunity to prepare future international campaigns and exchange Pirate ideas. After all – ‘Sharing is caring!”

New translation of Pirate Codex: Piraadikoodeks (Estonian)

Translation as found on http://piraadipartei.ee/content/piraadikoodeks

I Piraadid on vabad

Piraadid on vabadusejanused, sõltumatud, iseseisvad ega kiida heaks pimedat kuulekust. Nad seisavad informatsioonilise enesemääramise ja arvamuse vaba avaldamise eest. Piraadid kannavad vabadusega kaasnevat vastutust.

II Piraadid austavad privaatsust

Piraadid kaitsevad privaatsust. Nad võitlevad riigi ja ettevõtete kasvava jälgimismaania vastu, sest see piirab üksikisiku vaba arengut. Vaba ja demokraatlik ühiskond pole võimalik ilma privaatse ja jälgimisest vaba ruumita.

III Piraadid on kriitilised

Piraadid on loovad, uudishimulikud, ega rahuldu status quo’ga. Nad esitavad väljakutse süsteemidele, otsivad neis nõrku kohti ja leiavad viise parandamiseks. Piraadid õpivad oma vigadest.

IV Piraadid on siirad

Nad peavad oma sõna. Ühiste eesmärkide saavutamisel on oluline solidaarsus. Piraadid astuvad vastu ühiskonna „pigistame-silma-kinni“-mentaliteedile ja tegutsevad, kui on vaja üles näidata moraalset vaprust.

V Piraadid austavad elu

Piraadid on rahumeelsed.

VII Piraadid on sotsiaalsed

VIII Piraadid on rahvusvahelised

Piraadid on osa üleilmsest liikumisest. Nad kasutavad ära võimalused, mida pakub neile internet, ja suudavad seetõttu mõtelda ja tegutseda ilma piirideta.
